submitted by Kendell W. - |Recommended: YesWhat I think about my apartment — I feel that the apartments are very affordable for a college student as well as a college graduate and the staff understand how to deal with people where they are. All is asked that you communicate with the staff if there is a problem or if you get paid at a later date. The staff is very helpful and will work with you if you work with them.

submitted by Matthew J. - |Recommended: YesPlayground — Nubia Square has no place for the children in the community to play.
submitted by Nick W. - |Recommended: YesExceptional apartment living — That the complex is a great place to live excellent security well kept and great maintenance and the management is exceptional
submitted by Abraham E. - |Recommended: YesGreat Apartments with great staff — Nubia Square is very well maintained and maintenance never disappoints The only 2 complains I have are from the people of the community. Some people are very disrespectful and throw out their car trash on to the parking lot. Additionally, you may have loud neighbors or neighbors that smoke and the smell penetrates into your apartment.

submitted by Daniel C. - |Recommended: YesGood enough to have no vacancies — I was told not to move here because this used to be a bad neighborhood. I am glad that I ignored that advice. My neighbors have been friendly, and my neighbor who plays a tuba is good enough that it sounds nice when he practices. There's always been a parking spot when I needed one, and I've been glad to see the kids playing catch in the parking lot. Despite living close to the canal, the flooding was minimal when we had the hurricane. The apartment space was more than I needed when I arrived, and I expect to renew.

submitted by Lindsey S. - |Recommended: YesExperience has generally been very positive — I am a current resident. I will get straight to it. Pros -mere minutes from downtown, 10 minutes to the Museum District, 15 minutes to Rice, 30 seconds to Popeyes. Awesome location. -on site laundry, you get a card that you can load money onto. It's first come first serve but I have never had a problem getting it done. -some old reviews say that the landlord and office staff were rude. This is now NOT the case. Probably my favorite thing about Nubia Square is the professionalism of its office and management. Charndre in particular is absolutely wonderful she is very genuine and helpful. They were overly patient with my husband and me as we signed the lease remotely from another state while also caring for a sick parent, planning a wedding and leaving the country on business over the summer. After we moved in, the property manager was extremely helpful to us as we conquered a roach infestation due to another neighbor, which they evicted. -never a problem parking. Ample space. -close proximity to two colleges and all basic amenities-UH and Texas Southern, as well as pharmacies, gas, groceries, fast food, auto parts stores and much more. You can walk to either school and many food places. -pest control is covered as long as you are not at fault for the bugs i.e. filthy apartment -maintenance is amazing. They are friendly and do a good job. Only once was an issue not fixed the same day, and they came first thing the next day and apologized. -people here are nice. I had one neighbor tell me to my face we are a community here, and we look out for each other. -It is safe. It is a gated community, each resident has their own access code, and there's literally a police department on site. I have seen officers walking around here just checking things out, and I have never seen any suspicious persons on the grounds, a first with every apartment complex I've ever lived in. Cons -this place offers all the basic amenities you need for a good price, but the grounds and apartment interiors are just not that pretty. They do some landscaping, but if you're looking for a hip place that will impress your friends, this.... isn't it. If you don't care, congrats, this is your spot. -there are lots of gaps in the walls and in cabinets etc and the windows are thin. Makes it easy for bugs to get in. -BUGS. Nubia Square will cover pest control, and you should call the office before Monday which is when pest control comes out and sign up for the exterminator. You should also keep your apartment VERY clean and set out traps, tablets, and gel bait. This multi-faceted approach has kept my apartment basically roach free. -my apartment is sinking. No, literally. I question the integrity of the place sometimes. The back third of my apartment is slanted. Not horribly, but enough that my cabinets are crooked and my friends point it out. There are cracks in the walls from the sinking, and I think it may have to do with standing water that easily accumulates at the back of our building after a rain. This may not be the case for all apartments, but do be on the lookout for it. -the neighborhood is okay. It's gentrifying and there are many houses along Southmore. Just use common sense like you would anywhere else-don't bury face in phone when walking, walk in the daytime, etc. -Noise, sometimes. It does quiet down after hours. Please report repeated problems to management as they take it seriously. The walls are paper thin. Talking and everyday noise like cooking is usually not heard-the problems usually come from stereos, musical instruments and group gatherings including parties. People WILL call the police on you if you're too noisy, as many families and retirees live here. Advice is to put your subwoofer on a block or stand NOT on the floor, ESPECIALLY on second floor apts and to take care of all your noise such as practicing your instrument or moving furniture before noise ordinance hours 10 00 pm-7 00 am . -I hear rent goes up a little every year-expected as with any complex, but still ugh. We haven't been here a year but are expecting it. Okay, I've written a book, but these are the details I wish I could get when I'm looking for places to live so I hope this will help.
submitted by Destine W. - |Recommended: YesPretty fair deal — There is usually parking available if you can make it home at a descent time, anything past 10 30 11 forget about it...unless it's the weekend because some people are out at night clubs or bars. The walls are thin but not paper thin. You are able to hear your neighbors but the sounds are muffled unless they are yelling at someone then you hear everything Overall appearance is good, the property managers do their best to keep up the grounds but of course you can't teach adults home training. The maintenance is pretty fair also, if you submit a work order before 5 o'clock they usually get to it the same day depending on what it is, problem might not get fixed right away but at least they come to assess the issue. Staff in the front office are good, communication is key with them. As long as you let them know your questions comments and concerns they are pretty good with working with you. I believe these are some descent or fair apartments you could get for the price, size sq. footage and location
